Mesha approached me, requesting a music video with animations. Originally, the idea was to film child actors that looked liked the singers, to show childhood summer love. It was difficult at that time to get the actors and due to the weather, the idea had to be scrapped. Instead, I came up with the idea to rotoscope the music video entirely. The music video was filmed in different areas of Detroit using a Sony A7iii camera. Then I edited the footage in Premiere Pro and exported the composition to Adobe Animate, where I animated over 100s of frames by hand.
Summertime MV
Mesha Monique's Summertime. For this music video, I was the Camera Operator, the Video Editor, and Animator. We originally wanted to do this music video with child actors and have it be a story. Due to weather and scheduling, it was not possible. Instead, I opted to do a rotoscoping animation, drawing on top of the filmed, edited footage, using Adobe Animate.
